In my first hit-list of 2010... I had to light up an Alec Bradley Family Blend. So far AB cigars rank on my top 10 and this family blend is fairly good.

Not as insane as the Tempus by taste or as stylish as a 7 inch Vice Press ( both smoked about minutes after midnight on NYE!!! ) but just a balanced smoke.

You can still feel the AB spice in this smoke with that unique flavor to it. Its more discrete than Tempus but the work and quality of the overall cigar is as usual excellent. 84-85%

CIGAR REVIEW - Its Sunday... so I am reading on my lounge chair and smoking an Augusto Reyes Nativo.

Its a clean churchill cigar with a mild very soft taste. Draw is smooth and does not have any after taste, arsh or nefast taste to it.

Great smoke yet nothing incredible to it besides a decent presentation and a balanced cigar confection. Give it a try... 87%

Just like Traviata, Gold, their latest 3 letter smoke and the Maduro... This CAO Brasilia pyramid is BOF... as usual the CAO cigar looks great, looks to be a great smoke, people tell you this and that about it and then... Not much. 

There is nothing much under the hood. It's flat somehow and there is no surprise in this supposedly premium Puro marketed the right way.

Our final word here... We LOVE ITALIA and we have NO IDEA why this cigar is everywhere and the Italia is completely put out of order... After visiting 10 to 20 stores recently, we all noticed the same thing... Brasilia is everywhere and ITALIA (Their good smoke) is nowhere to be seen... 

Don't understand. 
Don't follow trends...

Tonight one of my latest acquisitions...
Chavon Dominican / Sun Grown Corona.
A very dark wrap as its name says it.

Dark wrap and short cigar yet very smooth and slightly spicy. Has a kick from the first puff and emanates a scent of wooden canella.  Very interesting smoke, presentation and wrap quality are good.

Some major veins are visible but does not affect taste as much as other high vein cigars.

Smoking Calos Torano, Exodus 1959.
Really good smoke at first sight... This compact Lonsdale is a real delight. The draw is fantastic and has a wooden cedar taste to it with a thin spice. 

Great vitola and general presentation just lacks of "ash strength capabilities" and does not compete with a Fuente, NUB, AB or Padron cigar on that special matter.

Carlos Torano 1916 Corona. Not very impressed... It's unfortunate because I enjoy other smokes from the family. This cigar is a basic mild to medium body smoke with little aromas. Small taste of spice on the tip of the tongue but nothing much.

Presentation is near perfect with spanish cedar wrap but yet I am really not impressed.

Don Lino "Africa" Robusto vitola. Very nice compact medium to mild cigar.

Very tight construction for this Robusto with a spicy hit after puffin. I am liking this quite a bit. If the spice was stronger I will totally rate it on my high gunners.

This one is recommended as a good smoke with no doubts.
Great presentation as well.

La Perla Habana is slowly becoming a top smoke on my "safe to smoke" cigar list.  This maduro corona is delicious and easy to smoke. Its woody and has an excellent ash build up.

I can only confirm (CIA Luckes). This is one more time why Padron rates consistently on top of the competition. The cigars are crafted with skills and deliciously blended yet very very bold. 


Montecristo lovers stay away from this and go back to smoking ladies cigars...

Smoking a 1926 Padron Box Pressed.  This little something is quite a deal. It is a tiny little cigar with some serious dynamite inside...  You can also appreciate the beautiful view from the 51th floor at the Epic Downtown Miami ( Blurred lights in BKG lol ). 

Final grade : 85-86% with a special plus for "ash monster"... This little block press cigar generates a wide 1 1/2 inches ash... Competing with "Don Carlos" blends without problem... Great smoke.

NUB cameroon wrap 3" cigar. OK besides the fact that you need to smoke it like if it was crack...
NUB is not another hyped-up cigar. Its smooth and quite fun to smoke while having great mild aroma.
It will not rate on top of the charts but has an insane ash capability almost 3/4 of the cigar turns into ash without falling.

When ash falls the cigar is almost gone. Gets a decent 86% and gets a special price for dramatic contruction ( solid cigar ) and for creativity.

Smoking Parejo Oscuro by Liga Privada (#9) - a ultra heavy duty cigar with 0% compromise. 

This is ass wooping full body but it gets bitter and that's when I stopped the story short...

I might not be alive in minutes. I don't know how to grade this....
It feels like particles colliding on that LHC but you get a fairly NASTY after taste...
This is no 601 bomb or Padron Full Blown 1964...

It turned to be an average smoke...

Tnite... while listening to Tesox ( 1995 ) I am smoking a very interesting Puros Indios Rosado Churchill.
This cigar is complex and presents himself with this twisted ultra sweet / super sour twist.

This is a roller coaster under the apparence of a basic smoke. Presentation is basic, brand is not over hyped but the product is definitelly good and complex. 86%

After days without reviewing anything new... I am back and decided to light up this top shelve fellow.  This is a ROCKY PATEL "Olde World Reserve". It's a super wooden maduro wrapper, box pressed cigar.

Presentation and manufacturing is near perfect. No vains, decent smooth draw as I expected. This smoke is good on paper but still needs and extra little something that is missing. Gets a 83%.

Finally found a minute to smoke a puro.

Smoking 5 Country Blend Maduro from Victor sinclair. Very clear smoke. Its smooth and very pleasant smoke. This is my 3rd one in this series and its growing on me. Great consistency. 85%

Cracked a tatuaje limited edition red. A mild cigar with clean smoke and presentation...  Tatuaje charts on the top of new brands and I would say its not all there... There is something missing... My call.

This smoke was bitter and did not provide what I expected and with all the FUZZ and HYPE and BUZZ around this brand I realized advertising dollars do a lot of miracles... 

Miracles... I don't believe in that. Give me a real smoke, something consistent and 
then I will join the ranks of fanatics... 

But for now I will pass on Tatuaje.


NOTE : Added 08/18/2012. After receiving death threats and insults from so many fans of Tatuaje, we have decided to maintain our speech... Over 2 years passed and Tatuaje has NOT produced any major smoke and their follow up seems to be based on thin air and or well executed marketing. 
The smokes are low priced and there is a reason for it... The flavors are edgy but there is little balance to these blends and many every day boutique cigar smokers will agree. 

To all those who are total fans; you have no apologies from us. At least until I get a great smoke from the Tatuaje crew / Pete.
And I am / We are NOT impressed... I want more!

CIGAR REVIEW - 2nd to none tnite... smoking a churchill Stradivarius. It tastes just like a white label Montecristo with a slightly smoother smoke depth.

Its good and a pleasant night time smoke. I am not without reserves since the hype around this cigar is elevated. I believe its overprized and you simply pay for the package and the name. Another "over marketed" product.

84% but loose the interest because of its price...

This tastes very Dominican like.
Its mild to medium body with a very soft spice after puffing a little on it. Soft everyday smoke.
Economic as well.

CIGAR REVIEW - first cigar in a long time... Alec Bradley "TEMPUS Terra Nova" Robusto.

 Its as usual a delight. Lots of flavor and layers of complexity with a mild creamy taste.

It has the AB spice as usual. That unique kick that I find only in these cigars and very few others. The smell is terrific and presentation as well as construction is a must.

Their pyramid version rated 91% this is just right next to it with a 89%. Only retreat ranks right next with a very few, very unique smokes...

CIGAR REVIEW - Had a gift today... Cuban Cohiba in box and coming from there staight to here...

Its not brilliant... lack of draw... faced 1 plug and had to needle it out.

First 25% was filthy then at the g spot it improved but it lacks of a lot of magik! If this was a dominican I would probably ruin it.

Here am careful but I can't rate this more than 77%. Done. Next! ( if you agree or disagree it does not matter - BBC reported than Cuban sales in Europe were down...

As well as a major downgrade in quality in the past 5 years. Cohiba IS really suffering and you can feel it while you smoke. A well balanced, rolled Dominican wins without a doubt...

CIGAR REVIEW - This Fuente candela could easily be described as refreshing rather than fulfilling. It has just enough character and truthfully was perfect for a mid afternoon outdoor smoke on a nice day.

Hints of fruit and a touch of spice with a pleasant aftertaste. Light bodied for sure, this cigar had a great burn and smooth draw. I would recommend this for the golf course.

CIGAR REVIEW - I received this Fonseca Vintage in my latest trade with Cigar Luckes. It was an ash monster as you can see from the picture. I have to admit I didn't like the start.

Highly dominated by mineral flavor with a strong sugar aftertaste. The middle third however was pleasant, more robust, hints of leather, wood, and a smooth buttery draw. Nearly all the mineral and sugar were gone at the halfway point and it added pepper as a replacement.

The final third left me with a 'nothing special' mind set. I had to remind myself how much I enjoyed the middle third. I'll smoke another one with a strong IPA. I think a refreshing beer would help me through the beginning and end of the smoke.

CIGAR REVIEW - I received this Illuminati maduro cigar ( Jack from Illuminati just emailed us and told us no maduro. I went on to match the ring and it's a medium bodied Crusade smoke) as a sample. The rep or owner (who ever you are) told me how close he was with Rocky Patel and how these cigars where from the same lines...

Well they are not. The smoking was difficult and had to over-punch the smoke to get draw. The cigar was very strong upfront and never took an ascending route like most cigars. It was sour and no wood flavors to it.

This smokes are not impressive whatsoever to us and we would like to know your opinion. I will have to smoke again and rewrite to make sure but first try was NOT good.

Regarding our reviews, our state of mind, our opinion and bluff in this industry.... 

YES, there is HYPE, there is lies, there is insiders publishing good reviews for others and there is ALSO --- HARD WORKING PEOPLE who really deserve a THANK YOU FOR GREAT SMOKES! There is also people like my guys and I who don't really care about pleasing this guy or that guy... 

This message is our way to tell certain people on Facebook to grow up.
Some are trying to sell us with strange ideas... Some told us that we are biased, that rating cigars is subjective, that you CAN NOT down rate a cigar ( YES I CAN ) ( AND I HAVE A HUGE LIST OF BAD SMOKES COMING ).

I have followed ALEC BRADLEY for a few years now. I have recommended and shared thoughts about their cigars for many years as well.

I have had talks with brand owners & direct competitors of AB who thought they were a joke. I always stood by my position. I always thought they produced great cigars and that they were really freaking tasty!

People often laughed at me. Some told me they are NOT real cigar makers. Others told me you can't judge a brand around 1 cigar.
